by Hana Sackler and Ana Lía Orézzoli

Curated by Alessandra Capodacqua and Lucia Minunno

A journey through memory, identity and family. This is the route undertaken in the exhibition by the photographers Hana Sackler and Ana Lía Orézzoli, which opens April 14 at Le Murate. Progetti Arte Contemporanea. Images that investigate themes such as family relations, emotions, and feelings. Something Familiar explores concepts and ideas that the two photographers developed through their two-years of training in the MFA in Photography program at the Studio Arts Centers International. The result of Sackler’s and Orézzoli’s work is rooted in the beginnings of their Italian experiences as photographers, which are focused on the themes of self, memory, family, identity and perception. Although the two projects are very different, they both seek to ask questions rather than provide answers: The edges of us by Hana Sackler, deals with her relationship with the members of her family and investigates the complexities and emotional layers of the family dynamic. Ana Lía Orézzoli, with A Kind of Longing, attempts instead to imagine the emotions and sentiments of her great-great-grandfather, who in the mid-1800s, left his home in Italy to emigrate to Peru. At 5:00 pm on the day of the opening, there will be a conversation with the photographers, who will explain their projects to the public. The exhibition is organized by the MFA in Photography program of Studio Art Centers International in collaboration with Le Murate.
